About me…

Living landscapes have been my passion for decades. I’ve explored nature in the bush, in gardens, the ocean and the city.

My earliest working years were in horticulture, spanning garden maintenance, plant propagation and sales. In my mid 20’s I volunteered with the CFS, which inspired me to think more seriously about serving my community in emergency services. This led to my decade as a police officer. It was a tough role, but I learned adaptive management and a keen eye for details in the environment - traits that serve me to this day. After 10 years of constantly changing shifts, I returned to my love of nature, with a diploma of garden design. I worked for several years designing spaces for homes, schools and businesses. After my daughter started school, my curiosity let me to attain degrees in evolutionary biology and environmental science. I completed my doctorate in social sciences in mid 2024. My thesis explored how people connect with nature in an urban environment and the influence of landscape form on that relationship.

Over the years I’ve encountered many personal and professional stressors, but through it all, my deep relationship with nature has sustained me. I founded ‘Nature To You’ as a way to share what I’ve learned and use my research and creative skills to help others.
